Brenda F. Plummer

Brenda Fay Mercer Plummer, 63, of Clarke County, Virginia, received her crown of life on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at her home.

Brenda was born on May 30, 1952, the daughter of the late Edgar W. and Erma E. Mercer. She was a graduate of Clarke County High School, Class of 1971 and North Springfield Missouri Nursing School. Mrs. Plummer was a Licensed Practical Nurse for 32 years, employed by Valley Health Systems Orthopedic Unit. She and her husband, Reverend Hubert L. Plummer were pioneers of the Faith Fellowship Church in Berryville, Virginia. She was a member of the Women’s Ministry through Faith Fellowship Church. Mrs. Plummer enjoyed sewing, baking, cooking, gardening, loved the beach and loved to travel to New York and Niagara Falls. Most of all, Bren loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandbabies.

She married Hubert Lee Plummer in 1971.

Surviving with her husband are sons, Eric Dwayne Plummer and wife, Kristina, Justin William Plummer and wife, Pamela, all of Winchester; Brenda’s bundles of joy were her 10 grandchildren, Trenton Wade Plummer Mathews, Bethany Lynn Plummer, Taylor Ann Plummer, Emma Sue Plummer, William “C.J.” Mathews, IV, Hayden Marie Plummer, Tyler Chase Plummer, Justin William Plummer, Jr., Austin Lee Plummer and Jacob Dale Plummer; sisters, Phyllis L. Mainhart (Harry Lee) of Bluemont, Virginia; Wanda Virginia Frye (Dennis Wayne) of Winchester; brothers, Norman William Mercer (Bettie), Gary Clay Mercer and Howard Shepherd Mercer (Karen) all of Bluemont, Virginia and many nieces and nephews.

A daughter, Cassandra Ann “Sweet Pea” Plummer Mathews, preceded her in death in 2015.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, at Faith Fellowship Church, 371 Kimble Road, Berryville, Virginia with Reverend David Palmer, Reverend Gary Palmer and Reverend Raymond Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Frederick County, Virginia.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Brown, Michael Mercer, Howard Mercer, Jr., Norman Mercer, Jr., Mike Fogle and Harold Kimble.
