Brandy Funk Brown, 45, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away on April 30, 2025. Born on June 24, 1979, she was the beloved daughter of Shirley Funk and the late Billy Carter.
Brandy was a woman full of life and personality—spunky, spirited, and always ready with a sharp-witted joke or a clever remark. She was the life of every party and brought joy wherever she went. She had a deep love for her family and found comfort in the company of her cats, especially her favorite, Babygirl. Brandy also enjoyed reading and thrift shopping, passions she pursued with enthusiasm and joy.
She is survived by her three loving sons: Donavin Brown, Trey Brown, and Chase Brown; her devoted mother, Shirley Funk; and her life partner, Larry Sloan, whom she loved like a father. Brandy also leaves behind three sisters: Tonya Funk, Regina Silver (Sanford Silver), and Tammy Spence; two brothers: Kevin Funk and Billy Shifflett; and many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her father Billy Carter, her sister Donna Shifflett, her brother, Dwayne Funk, her grandmother Geraldine Clatterbuck Funk, her grandfather John Funk, and her nephew, Justin Shifflett.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM, followed by a service at 1:00 PM at Open Door Baptist Church, 333 Jeremiah Ln., Clearbrook, VA 22624. Dinner will be served following the service.
Pallbearers include Kevin Funk, Donavin Brown, Trey Brown, Chase Brown, Donte Weaver, Jordan Funk, Tavon Jackson, and Devin Mcdougald.
Honorary pallbearers include Cheslea Breeden, Alexis Sloane, Chloe Breeden, and Kelsey Myers.
Brandy’s laughter, love, and light will never be forgotten.
