Blythe P. Whitacre
Mrs. Blythe P. Whitacre, 85, of Frederick County, VA died Tuesday, June 21, 2016 in Green Valley Commons Assisted Living facility.
Mrs. Whitacre was born in 1931 in Bunker Hill, WV, the daughter of the late Fred and Ruth Mauzy. She worked for Capitol Records in Winchester as a Quality Control Inspector. Mrs. Whitacre attended Chestnut Grove Methodist Church and enjoyed cooking and traveling.
Mrs. Whitacre married Elwood H. Whitacre, Sr. on March 21, 1948 in Martinsburg, WV.
Surviving with her husband are daughter, Ruth W. Gordon (Larry), Kennesaw, GA; sons, Gary E. Whitacre (Sharon), White Post, VA, James Whitacre, Martinsburg, WV; grandchildren, Bradley S. Whitacre, White Post, VA, Lori W. Drake (Mark), Stephens City, VA, Susan A. Mathison (Jason), Dallas, GA, Julie G. Thomas (Jonathan), Monroe, NC; and five great grandchildren.
Mrs. Whitacre was preceded in death by son, Elwood Whitacre, Jr. and five sisters.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Green Valley Commons Assisted Living and Blue Ridge Hospice for the wonderful care shown to their mother.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 24, 2016 from 10:00-11:00 AM at Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church, with a funeral service following at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Frederick County, VA.
