Cowboy Bill Moss, 69, of Hume, VA rode off into the sunset Thursday, December 24, 2020, with his loving wife Kelley Moss by his side.
Bill was born in 1951 in Morris, OK, son of the late Harold and Opal Moss. He attended McClain High School in Tulsa, OK and was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served as a heavy operator and driving instructor at Fort Leonard Wood in MO, Fort Indiantown Gap in PA, Fort Devens in MA and Fort Meade, MD. As a young man Bill started crafting his horsemanship skills when a well-known horse trader, Claude Curry, recognized his talents and hired him to ride his horses for a few dollars a day and the horses quickly made a profit. With this being noticed by an even bigger horse trader, Garland Ingerham, asked to borrow Bill and took him under his wing. Bill traveled to horse sales all across the country with the Ingerham Brothers prepping and showing horses in the sale ring.
Cowboy Bill worked on several Northeastern Oklahoma Ranches to include the Halsell, Cooper and Childers Ranches, before working in the Tulsa Freight Industry for Yellow and C and P Transportation. With this he was competing and winning at all levels of team roping, but enjoyed most of his time traveling with Tom Abshire as the Kodiak Cowboy on the IPRA Rodeo Circuit, as he was a talented team roper.
He trained and sold many great roping horses and had a hand in making several great team ropers. Bill also had a passion for life and buying/selling anything that would make a dollar. His charm, storytelling abilities, and wit got him far in life.
Bill enjoyed spending time with his beloved Kelley. His passions in life were roping, fishing, traveling, cooking, attending yard parties, and loved playing practical jokes. Bill retired from Marriott Ranch, Hume, VA in 2016 and continued to work part-time as a hunting guide until his death.
He married Kelley Clatterbuck on December 10, 2003 at the Sagebrush Ranch, Las Vegas, NV.
Surviving with his wife is a son, Billy Moss of Skiatook, OK; brother, Wayne Moss of Talala, OK; sister, Kathy Moss of Catoosa, OK; granddaughter, Alexa Moss of Tulsa, OK; nephews, Michael and Donnie Moss, Chaston Clatterbuck; nieces, Caybrie Clatterbuck, Jamie Brown, and Lacey Moss; brother-in-law, Ross Clatterbuck and sister-in-law, Stacy Clatterbuck; special friends, Gene Rowland of Kiefer, OK and James Middleton of New Kent, VA.
