Reverend B.G. Kern
Reverend Beverly Gene Kern, 79, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, died April 8, 2014, in Winchester, Virginia.
Mr. Kern was born in 1935, in Winchester, Virginia, the son of the late Lawrence and Maude Kern. In tribute to Mom and Dad Kern, truly a prodigal son has come home to be with the lord. After a stormy life through his teen years and serving in the United States Navy aboard the USS F.D. Roosevelt during the Korean Conflict, he also served in the Maryland National Guard. Mr. Kern was a retired Aerospace Engineer Draftsmen and was ordained and affiliated with New Jerusalem Universal Church in Ohio. He was a travelling Evangelist with the Trinity Missionary Ministry for many years, participating in missions in Mexico and here in America.
The grace of God truly is amazing. Thanks for the many prayers from all of his friends during his recent time of illness. Remember that something beautiful, something good, and all our confusion – the Lord understands. When all we have to offer him is pain and brokenness, the Lord can make something beautiful out of your life. B.G. had a giving heart – supporting many missionaries and organizations, helping our wounded warriors and he was a lifetime member of the VFW. B.G. Kern’s request was to be buried at sea by the United States Navy. Remember the troubles of yesterday, together with the worries of tomorrow, are too heavy to be carried today. What a friend we have in Jesus!
Mr. Kern is survived by two sisters, Betty Lou Quiggle, and husband Gerry, of Shareville, Indiana, and Mary Lou Arnette, and husband Wayne, of Titusville, Florida; and two brothers, Linwood Kern, and wife Lois, of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and Gary Kern of Columbia, Maryland. He is also survived by is his first wife, Doris Harvey Kern and second wife, Connie Sure Kern.
Mr. Kern was preceded in death by three sisters, Genevie Gorman, Geraldine Sheppard, and Barbara Malin; and five brothers, Eugene Kern, Elwood Kern, Kenneth Kern, Bradley Kern and Lawrence Kern, Jr.
Per B.G.’s request, his remains have been sent to a Naval Base in Portsmouth, Virginia for burial at sea and to have Amazing Grace playing during that time.
Memorial contributions may be made to Linwood Kern for a future Memorial, c/o Omps Funeral Home, 1600 Amherst Street Winchester, Virginia, 22601.
