Betty Marie Ricketts Payne, 73, of Clearbrook, Virginia, died Tuesday, April 26, 2011, peacefully in her home.
Mrs. Payne was born in 1937, in Frederick County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Earl and Vada Ricketts. She was formerly employed by J. Schoeneman Inc., having served for 20 years until its closing, more recently by Rubbermaid as a machine operator, retiring in 2000. She was a past President of FOPA and a life member of the Ole Fredericktowne Lodge #12.
She married Marion Payne, Sr. on September 17, 1955, in Williamsport, Maryland.
Surviving with her husband, is a son, Marion Payne, “Jr.” and wife, Terry of Clearbrook, daughter, Robin Crim and her husband, James of Front Royal, Virginia; two grandchildren, Tiffany Loy and her husband, Kevin, and Brandi Crim and fiancée Kory Campbell all of Winchester, two great grandchildren, Alexis and Dylan Loy; her sisters, Alice Nealis and Peggy Ritenour, and brothers, Earl Ricketts, “Jr.”, Don Ricketts, George “Butch” Ricketts and Doug Ricketts.
Two grandchildren, Michael Daton Payne and David Allen Payne, sister, Frances Payne, and three brothers, Charles, Manuel and Eugene Ricketts, preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Reverend Steve Wells officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
