Betty L. (Bush) Wright, age 89, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away on Friday August 4, 2017 at Heritage Hall, Front Royal, Virginia.
Mrs. Wright was born in 1928 in Lenoir, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Julius P. and Wilma W. Bush. She graduated from Central High School in Lenoir, North Carolina and attended Brevard College in Brevard, North Carolina. Later she worked as a bookkeeper with her husband at L. J. Wright and Son Oil Company. Betty was a member of the Opequon Presbyterian Church in Winchester. She became a Life Master and Bronze Life Master in Bridge, where she was a member of the Dick Bowers Duplicate Bridge Club and numerous other bridge clubs. Betty was a past member of the KiWives of Winchester. She enjoyed traveling and loved doing ceramics for many years.
Her husband, Loring J. Wright, Jr., whom she married on June 13, 1946 in Parris Island, South Carolina preceded her in death in 1988.
Betty is survived by her son, Robert B. Wright (Mary); daughter-in-law, Jeannie F. Wright; grandchildren, Candice Wright Gardner (Charles) and Zachary Phillip Wright (Bailey); great-grandchildren, Erin M. Gardner, Christopher M. Gardner, AOAN (AW) Alyssa Farquhar (Michael), and Charles L. Wright; and cousins, Phillip Brooks Bush, III and Mary Bush Todd.
In addition to her parents and husband, Betty is preceded in death by her son, Joseph P. Wright and her brother, Bob W. Bush.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Mount Hebron Cemetery with Pastor Tracie Martin officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
