After a long and loving life of almost 96 years, Betty left her failing body and began her long anticipated life on the other side of eternity. Her life was filled with grace and patience for everyone she met, but she was growing weary waiting for her call to go Home. Betty’s life was characterized by caregiving. We moved to many different small towns during our life as a family, and before we had been in a new place for a month, Betty had discovered who in that town needed her help. Sometimes it was a young mom overwhelmed with the needs of her family, and she usually had an extra kid or two around our house who she was caring for. Many times it was an elderly person who needed companionship or some kind of help. When Betty could no longer care for other people, she poured herself into giving a few lucky cats their best possible life!
Betty loved the Lord and loved to teach Sunday School…third grade specifically…which she taught for over thirty years in several different towns. She was determined that each of her students would learn to look up passages and read their Bibles for themselves under her direction. A whole generation of kids passed through her hands.
We will miss her terribly, but are grateful for the time we had with her, for the privilege to be loved by her, and that we will be reunited soon.
