Bernice “Bunny” Braithwaite
Mrs. Bernice Ann “Bunny” Braithwaite, age 73, of Winchester, VA, died Saturday, July 7, 2012, at Winchester Medical Center. Mrs. Braithwaite was born in 1939 in Frederick County, VA, the daughter of the late Harry Ray, Sr. and Helen Virginia Kern. She was a 1956 graduate of James Wood High School. She was a homemaker and a member of the Methodist faith. Bunny was a member of “The Wednesday Morning Breakfast League” at Northside Lanes, Winchester, VA with a host of wonderful friends. She was a dedicated Girl Scout leader for over 15 years in the Shawnee Council and spent a number of years volunteering her time at the Apple Country Head Start at all locations. Bunny was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She married William E. “Red” Braithwaite on March 17, 1957, in Toms Brook VA.
Surviving with her husband of 55 years are two daughters, Deborah B. Hilty and husband Keith and Stacey R. Braithwaite, both of Winchester,, VA; six grandchildren, Eric M. Hilty, Sean T. Hilty, Rachel L. Hilty, Aaron L. Davis, Jordan L. Davis, and Trinity L. Davis, and two sisters, Linda K. Williams of Winchester and Sherry M. Welsh of Stephens City. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry R. “Butch” Kern, Jr. and Keith “Mike” Kern.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Davis, Jordan Davis, Carlos Mason, Eric Davis, Keith Hilty, and Cy Presgraves.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.
