Aulden D. Smith died peacefully at his residence in the Villages of Orchard Ridge in Winchester, Virginia, on the evening of August 6, 2026.

He was born on November 7, 1941, in Winchester, Virginia. He was the younger son of the late Bernard K. and Willetta J. Smith. Aulden attended James Wood High School and he served in the United States Army. For many years he worked at his father’s service station, Smith’s Gulf Station, in Winchester. He also drove a school bus for Frederick County Schools. His final position was with Lord Fairfax Community College where he was employed as a courier. He retired in 2020. Throughout his life he always maintained a keen interest in classic automobiles. He was a member of the Mountain View Church of Christ in Winchester.

Aulden is survived by a daughter, Sheila Ledesma, and a brother, Orlan Smith (Paulette), of Orlando, Florida.

Interment was in Shenandoah Memorial Park. A celebration of life will be held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel at 11:00 am, on Monday, August 24, 2026.

Rest in peace. I knew Aulden when he worked with his Dad at the service station. He dated one of my cousins so he seemed like part of the family. See you on the other side.

Aulden! You were always friendly and helpful to everyone. And I was always thrilled to take rides in one of your super hot cars when I was a young teenager. Of course your Impala, "Caspar" was, for me, the coolest. Thanks for many fond memories of the "Station" and the farm in Bartonsville. 70 some years ago you and Orlan were some of the older boys I looked up to. Rest in Peace! Cousin Jimmy

I had known Aulden since he was in James Wood High School. He was in one of my classes. After graduating I bought a car and started buying gas from Smiths Gulf Station. Got to know Aulden very well and how he was about his cars. He had a white Chevy Impala that was named "CASPER". Kept in the garage all the time. I want to say that he was a very supportive friend when I needed one. I will always love him. Have never forgotten him and had tried to find him in the last few years with no luck.
