Annette L. Seidel
Annette Lewis Seidel, 85, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Sunday, March 17, 2013, in her home.
Mrs. Seidel was born in 1927, in Gallipolis, Ohio, the daughter of the late Charles C. and Ann Lewis. She was a graduate of Goucher College receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics. She and her husband, John, a Foreign Service Officer, served in American Embassies in Cairo, Karachi, Islamabad, Beirut, Teheran and Paris from 1960-1985. While in Iran she served on the Board of Trustees of the Teheran American School (1975-1977). In Paris Mrs. Seidel was Co-chair of the Embassy’s Family Liaison Program (1983-1984). After retiring from the Foreign Service she and her husband were Co-chairs of the Friends of Oatlands, a National Trust historic plantation near Leesburg, Virginia, serving from 1990-1994.
Mrs. Seidel was a homemaker and a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winchester, Virginia. She was a past member of the Garden Study Club of Loudoun County.
She married John Jacob Seidel, Jr. on May 27, 1950, in Point Pleasant, West Virginia.
Surviving with her husband are her children, John L. Seidel of Chestertown, Maryland, Charles B. Seidel of Syracuse, New York, Anne S. Overington of Fredericksburg, Virginia; and eight grandchildren.
Two sisters, Margaret L. Lewis, Virginia L. Harper and two brothers, Charles C. Lewis, Jr., and William N. Lewis, preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church with Reverend Dr. James H. Utt and Pastor Martha Miller-Sims officiating. Family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Private interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.
