Anna Mae Hubbell
Anna Mae Hubbell, residing with her daughter at Stephens City, Virginia, formerly of Hagerstown, Maryland, died Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the Winchester Medical Center.
Born December 10, 1924, in Washington D.C., She was the daughter of the late Ralph F. Boose and Delilah Boose Bell.
Her husband, William H. Hubbell, preceded her in death on April 13, 1996.
She was a member and past president of the Hagerstown Lioness Club, chairing various committees. She was employed at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Virginia; Acme Supermarket in Winchester and Washington D.C. and the Navy Mutual Aid Association in Washington D.C., where she retired in 1989. She and her husband, Bill, subsequently made their home in Hagerstown.
Anna Mae felt a deep connection to nature and its beauty and expressed her love for it through many hobbies, especially gardening, flower arranging, needlework and painting china. Roses and orchids were foremost among her favorite flowers.
Surviving is her daughter, Loretta McDonald and husband, Roy; two grandsons, Roy Edward McDonald, Jr. and Jason Scott McDonald and his wife, Jennifer; great grandson, Justin Scott McDonald, all of Stephens City, VA; sister, Stella Leigh Strickler and husband, Gary, of Winchester, VA; niece, Kendra Strickler and husband, James Bergey, of Philadelphia, PA and nephew, Kenneth Haines, of Greenbelt, MD.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Haines and her husband, Edgar.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hagerstown, Maryland at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 20, 2015 with Pastor Elizabeth Wolinski officiating.
