Anna E. Tinsman
Anna Elizabeth O’Connell Tinsman, 89, of Winchester, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 16, 2010. Her family was by her side.
Born December 21, 1920, in Washington D.C., she was the daughter of the late Philip Patrick O’Connell and Mary Josephine Fox O’Connell, both of Ireland.
She graduated from St. Patrick’s Academy in Washington, D.C.
Mrs. Tinsman was a secretary for the U.S. Government for a time and volunteered at Walter Reed Hospital. She married Oliver “Jim” Linwood Tinsman on December 7, 1944, and was a homemaker and assisted her husband in Jim’s Shoe Repair for 34 years. She attended Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving are two sons, Philip J. Tinsman of Winchester, Virginia, James O. Tinsman of Darlington, Maryland; two daughters Anna Mae Costello of Leesburg, Virginia and Regina T. Swain of Capon Bridge, West Virginia; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, and her sister, Rita H. O’Connell of Washington D.C.
In addition to her husband of 43 years, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Eva Tinsman Pratt, sister, Mary Margaret Love, three brothers, Philip O’Connell, Joseph L. O’Connell and Maurice O’Connell.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Saturday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Stanley J. Krempa officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Frederick County, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Ray Mitchell, Jimmy Nickens, Jeff Whitlock, Whitney Cockrell, Joe McPeak and Dale Swain.
Family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
