Anne Carnegie, a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Lake Frederick, VA, on Saturday, December 21, 2024, surrounded by her devoted family.
Born in Glen Ridge, NJ, Anne was the cherished daughter of the late Gerald and Vera Maurillo. She pursued her passion for helping others by earning a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Rhode Island, followed by a master’s degree in family counseling from Montclair State University.
Anne proudly served her country as a nurse in the United States Air Force, starting in California before assignments in Japan and Thailand. Following her military service, Anne dedicated more than 30 years to the New Jersey Public School System as an elementary school nurse, serving in East Orange, Lincoln Park, and Milburn before her retirement.
A woman of faith and community, Anne was a member of the Winchester Host Lions Club, the Lake Frederick Bridge Club, and the Lake Frederick Book Club. She had a deep passion for traveling and exploring culinary delights that took her all around the world.
Anne is survived by her loving husband, William Carnegie; her brother Bob Thomas; her son Tom Carnegie and spouse Maritta; her daughter Karen Johnson and spouse Drew; and her four treasured grandchildren: Sheril Steinberg, Sasha Carnegie, Cole Johnson, and Quinn Johnson. She also leaves behind extended family members and many dear friends who will miss her deeply.
