Alice Evelyn Shaffer, 77 of Winchester, VA, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at her home.

Alice was born in 1947 in Maryland, the daughter of Woodrow and Ruth Cockrill. She was a high school graduate who retired after a long career working for British Aerospace. Alice was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was an avid quilter who also made her own jewelry and mosaics.

She married Charles Sammuel Shaffer, Jr. on October 6, 1967, in Vienna, VA and he preceded her in death on May 12, 2018.

Alice is survived by her sons, Charles Sammuel Shaffer III (Donna) of Winchester, VA, Carl Nelson Austin (Michelle) of Berkeley Springs, WV; grandchildren, Dianna, Sammuel and Kimberly Shaffer, Unity, Emily and Sky Austin; great-grandchildren, Addy Cook, Maddie Harden, Zachary Shaffer, Brayden Austin and her sister, Cora Lee Cockrill of Winchester, VA.

In addition to her parents and husband, Alice is preceded in death by her son, Bryan Allen Shaffer and sisters, Barbara Jean Cockrill and Phyllis Ann Martin.

A visitation will be held for Alice on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 10am with a service to follow at 11am all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.  Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.  Officiating will be Pastor Alan Morrison.
