Albert Anthony Felicio, Sr., 96 of Winchester, VA, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 29, 2024, at his home.
Al was born on January 12, 1928, in Brooklyn, NY the son of Louis and Rose (Urgo) Felicio. He was a graduate of John Adams High School in Queens, NY and served our country as Seaman 2nd Class in the United States Navy, post WWII. Al retired after 45 years from Harris Graphics in Winchester.
He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Al belonged to the Winchester Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, Izaak Walton League, and the American Legion. He was a lifetime member of Millwood Station Volunteer Fire and Rescue and the former Winchester Volunteer Rescue Squad. He held various positions including President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Officer in charge of the Junior Squad and maintenance of the trucks. When the station moved from the city to Millwood (Station 21) he volunteered at Bingo until 2020. He also volunteered at various Food Banks for 15 years.
He married Joann Vermillion on August 27, 1992, in Las Vegas, NV. She preceded him in death on March 24, 2010.
Al is survived by his children, Mary Wright (Robert-deceased) of Stephens City, VA, Albert A. Felicio, Jr. (Nancy) of Winchester, VA, and Carleen Overacker (John) of Mt. Crawford, VA; grandchildren, Zachary Wright (Bailey) of Stephens City, VA, Albert Felicio III (Karen) of Leesburg, VA, Angela Felicio of Winchester, VA, Matthew Overacker (Rachel) of Waynesboro, VA, and Joshua Overacker of Mt. Crawford, VA; great-grandchildren, Charles Wright of Stephens City, VA, Phillip Wright of Stephens City, VA, Albert Anthony Felicio IV of Leesburg, VA, Jamie Overacker of Waynesboro, VA and Jacob Felicio of Leesburg, VA; brother-in-law, Jim Vermillion (Anne-deceased) of Front Royal, and extended family, Peggy Berger, Hope Owens, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Along with his parents and wife, Joann, Al is preceded in death by his first wife, Marguerite Theresa Felicio; sisters, Anna DeFrancisco and Mille Piro and brothers, Louis, Gabriel, George, Anthony, and Robert Felicio.
Al was an avid sports enthusiast. He played softball for the NYC league where he helped win the city championships 5 years in a row. He also played softball in the church and industrial leagues in Winchester until he was 66. He enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting and watching NASCAR. He made many trips to Atlantic City and Charles Town where he would return with extra in his pocket. In his later years, Al would sit on the front porch reading.
A visitation will be held for Al on Monday, May 6, 2024, at 10 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am, all conducted at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. A private Interment will be held later in Winchester National Cemetery.
